How to register a .cr or .co.cr domain at dominios.cr

CR Servers does not sell .cr or .co.cr registration. You register directly with NIC Costa Rica and remain the legal owner (titular) of the domain.

Before you start

  • Have your identification ready: Costa Rican cédula (physical or jurídica), DIMEX, NITE, or foreign ID for extranjero registration.
  • Decide your domain name and extension (.cr, .co.cr, etc.).
  • If you plan to host with CR Servers, use our nameservers during registration (see below).

Steps

  1. Open dominios.cr and sign in, or create a NIC account.
  2. Search for your domain. If available, add it to the cart.
  3. Complete titular (owner) information — use your own name or company; do not register under CR Servers as titular unless you are ordering on behalf of your organization with proper authorization.
  4. Fill in administrative, technical, and billing contacts (each needs a valid email).
  5. When asked for nameservers, enter at least two of CR Servers nameservers if you will use our shared hosting, email, or DNS:
  • ns1.crservers.net
  • ns2.crservers.net
  • ns3.crservers.net
  1. Review pricing (NIC fees; IVA applies as shown at checkout) and pay NIC directly.
  2. After registration, order web hosting or VPS from CR Servers if you have not already.

Open a ticket from the client area. We can help with DNS and hosting; we cannot register the domain on your behalf as titular in Phase 0–1.
